Dec. 7-13, 2015, is Hour of Code Week, sponsored by Code. Org. Nearly 1.5 million people have signed up, and the goal is that every student the world-over will get the chance this week to see that anyone can learn to code, including famous people and even the President of the United States!
In fact, most of our local school children are participating, from elementary through high school and beyond. In fact, we encourage parents to sit down with their kids for an hour this week and learn something new together. And we encourage you to share your photos, stories and certificates on our Facebook page.
Members of the Collaboratory’s “Computing the Future” team are now qualified to provide Code.org training for elementary through high school teachers through professional development courses taught in-person, locally. Two 6.5 hour workshops have already concluded, and two more are planned for Jan. 27 & Feb. 4 and Mar. 2 & 9 in the Blue Mountain Room at the ESD 123 in Pasco. Email project manager Ann Wright-Mockler of PNNL today for more information.
