STEM education is an important focus in the Mid-Columbia. To increase their collective impact on STEM, five local K-12 school districts, a community college, a regional university and the LIGO Hanford Observatory joined the Collaboratory’s four founding
members for the express purpose of improving STEM education, increasing STEM workforce preparation for all, and actively engaging the community in Collaboratory projects. We believe that impactful STEM education approaches can be created, implemented,
tested and studied within our local classrooms, schools and community programs.
